What is MHT CET 2026?
The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT CET) is a state-level competitive exam conducted by the State Common Entrance Test Cell (CET Cell), Maharashtra. It serves as the gateway to undergraduate admissions in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech), Pharmacy (B.Pharm), and allied health sciences programs at government and private colleges across Maharashtra.
This year, approximately 7.5 lakh candidates have registered for Session 1 alone, making it one of the most competitive state entrance exams in India. The exam is conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode across more than 120 cities in Maharashtra, in two daily shifts.
Important update: The PCM exam schedule was revised due to a clash with national-level tests. There will be no exam on April 12, 2026. All PCM candidates must re-download their admit card today and verify their updated exam date and shift.

Last-Minute Study Tips for MHT CET 2026
With the exam just days away, how you use your remaining time matters more than how much you study. Here are eight proven strategies to maximise your score in the final stretch.
1. Focus Only on High-Weightage Topics
Do not attempt to cover the entire syllabus at this stage. Since 80% of the paper comes from Class 12, direct all your energy there. For PCM students, prioritise Electrostatics, Current Electricity, and Optics in Physics; Organic Chemistry reactions and Electrochemistry in Chemistry; and Calculus, Probability, and Vectors in Mathematics. For PCB students, focus on Genetics, Human Physiology, and Plant Physiology in Biology. Do not start any new chapter you have not touched before, it will consume time without proportionate return.
2. Take at Least One Full-Length Mock Test Daily
Nothing prepares you better for a CBT exam than practising under real conditions. Attempt one complete mock test every day, strictly within the 180-minute time limit. This trains your brain for sustained concentration, builds familiarity with the interface, and reveals which sections are consuming too much of your time. After each mock, spend 20 minutes analysing your mistakes, that review session is where the real learning happens.
3. Build a Single Revision Sheet of Formulas and Reactions
On a single A4 sheet, compile all physics formulas, chemistry reaction mechanisms, organic name reactions, and key mathematical identities. Revise this sheet every morning and before sleeping. When your brain is under exam pressure, having condensed, organised information is far faster to recall than flipping through textbooks.
4. Never Leave Any Question Blank
Since MHT CET 2026 has no negative marking, a blank answer is a guaranteed zero. An educated guess, even a random one, gives you a 25% chance of scoring. Use the process of elimination, rule out two obviously wrong options and pick from the remaining two. This strategy alone can add 5 to 10 marks to your total score.
5. Manage Your Time Smartly During the Exam
For PCM candidates: Mathematics carries 2 marks per question and offers the highest return, allocate roughly 50 minutes to it. Spend around 45 minutes each on Physics and Chemistry. If any question takes longer than 2.5 minutes, mark it for review and move on. Return to flagged questions at the end. Do not let one difficult problem cost you five easy ones.
6. Revise Previous Year Papers for Pattern Recognition
Go through at least two to three previous year MHT CET question papers. CET regularly repeats concept types with minor numerical variations. Recognising familiar question patterns on exam day is a huge time-saver and confidence booster. Focus especially on the types of problems that appear most frequently in your weaker subjects.
7. Sleep 8 Hours the Night Before Your Exam
This is not optional advice, it is backed by science. Your brain consolidates and organises memory during sleep. An 8-hour sleep before the exam will do more for your performance than a last-minute all-nighter. Aim to be in bed by 10 PM the night before your scheduled exam date. Keep your phone away and avoid screens for the last hour before sleeping.
8. Eat Well and Stay Hydrated
Have a light, nutritious meal before leaving for the exam centre. Avoid heavy, oily, or unfamiliar foods that cause sluggishness or discomfort. Carry a water bottle, staying hydrated improves concentration more than most students realise. Dehydration, even mild, measurably impairs cognitive performance and recall speed.
Common Mistakes to Avoid on Exam Day
Arriving late: Check the distance to your exam centre today and plan your journey in advance. Account for morning traffic and public transport delays. Latecomers are not permitted entry after the gate-closing time.
Carrying the city intimation slip instead of the admit card: The two documents look similar but serve different purposes. Only the official admit card downloaded from April 7 onwards is valid for entry into the exam hall.
Not verifying admit card details: Check your name, photograph, exam date, shift, and centre address right now, not on the morning of the exam. Corrections require time and the helpline gets extremely busy in the days leading up to the test.
Spending too long on one question: Getting stuck on a single hard problem and losing time for easier questions is the single most common cause of preventable score loss in CBT exams.
The MHT CET 2026 admit card for PCM is out today. Download it immediately, verify every detail, and take a printout. With just a few days to go, trust the preparation you have already done, be smart with your revision time, and approach the exam with confidence.
All the best for MHT CET 2026!
